The Katz School Launches Physician Assistant Studies Master鈥檚 Program

The at 麻豆区 is launching an M.S. in Physician Assistant Studies this summer grounded in evidence-based medicine, a case-based approach to patient care, interprofessional practice and community health. As medical professionals, physician assistants diagnose disease, develop and implement treatment plans, perform surgical procedures, prescribe medications and often serve as a patient鈥檚 principal health care provider. The program, which can be completed in 28 months, will feature comprehensive clinical rotations in behavioral health, emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, primary care and women鈥檚 health. 鈥淧hysician assistants have been heroes serving on the front lines during the COVID crisis,鈥 said Paul Russo, vice provost at 麻豆区 and dean of the Katz School. 鈥淧As graduating from the Katz School will bring that same commitment to improving patient care and ensuring access to high-quality health care in every medical and surgical setting nationwide.鈥 They are among the highest-paying and fastest-growing jobs in the country. In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projected 31.3% employment growth for the profession between 2019 and 2029 and estimates 39,300 new jobs will be created.
