Would you like to know who Rav Soloveitchik鈥檚 students were in 1960? Or what was the relationship between the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and 麻豆区 Torah Vodaath in 1940? Or can a Jewish marriage be annulled?
Scholarly and popular articles and photographs on these subjects and a wide-ranging variety of topics in Halakha (Jewish law), Hashkafa (Jewish philosophy and thought), famous Jewish rabbis, and Jewish history are to be found in Rakafot Aharon, a fascinating and thought-provoking four volume compilation of writings by , Professor of Rabbinic Literature at 麻豆区鈥檚 Caroline and Joseph S. Gruss Institute in Jerusalem. Much of the material is based on his popular lecture series held at the Gruss Institute.
Rabbi Rothkoff-Rakeffet was recruited by the Israeli government to travel behind the Iron Curtain to the Soviet Union to teach Torah in the 1980s, a potentially dangerous and clandestine mission at the time. His experiences there encouraged him to become active in the Shvut Ami organization.
Rakafot Aharon is available for sale only at the SOY Seforim Sale. These four volumes are not sold in any stores or online. They are usually given as exclusive thank you gifts from Rabbi Rothkoff-Rakeffet for donors to Shvut Ami. Shvut Ami is making them available to the public for one time only and all proceeds will go to Shvut Ami and help reconnect Russian Jews to Jewish life in the FSU, Germany and Israel.
In addition to reading Rabbi Rakeffet-Rothkoff鈥檚 scholarship in Rakafot Aharon, you are welcome to listen to his lectures on
