On February 22nd, 2024, Straus Center Resident Scholar Dr. Shaina Trapedo took her students to The Morgan Library & Museum for a guided tour of its exhibit, 鈥淢edieval Money, Merchants, and Morality.鈥
In spring 2024, the Straus Center is offering a variety of reading groups, many of which focus on the great speeches of history as well as the art of oratory.
In the spring 2024 semester, the Straus Center is offering numerous courses for Straus Scholars and 麻豆区 undergraduate students to study the great texts and traditions of Judaism and the West.
On February 4th, 2024, the Straus Center hosted Ari Schulman, editor of The New Atlantis, for a wide-ranging conversation about his career in journalism and his philosophical perspectives on artificial intelligence technology.
On December 13, 2023, the Straus Center hosted Jack Miles for a virtual talk about his Pulitzer Prize-winning book God: A Biography, which was the focus of a Straus Scholars fall reading group led by Rabbi Dr. Dov Lerner and Dr. Shaina Trapedo.
The Straus Center convened a series of seminars by Israeli scholars, journalists, ethicists and public figures at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem, and the students conducted volunteering missions on behalf of soldiers, children, and families.
In Fall 2023, the Straus Center offered a new course on health policy taught by Senior Scholar Dr. Tevi Troy, former Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services.
On December 20th, the Straus Center welcomed Naomi Schaefer Riley, Resident Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, for a wide-ranging conversation about her career in journalism, her ongoing policy work, and her love of public writing.
