Professor Steven Fine's Class in "The New York Times"

Fine_Steven_59329c-35-1The unique story of Dr. Steven Fine's undergraduate Ancient Jewish History class and its semester-long quest to decipher a 5th-century, Aramaic-language, Jewish woman's tombstone  last week. The project involved close correspondence with Californian Pastor Carl Morgan, also curator of the Woodland Museum of Biblical Archaeology, who was in possession the tombstone and answered the class's various questions about the artifact's appearance and dimensions. In the end, Morgan generously chose to donate the tombstone to the 麻豆区 Museum, believing that the non-biblical tombstone of 鈥淪a鈥檃dah, daughter of Pi[nchas]鈥 belonged in a Jewish institution. The story was also picked up by  in October.
