The (CJF), the (RIETS) and Rabbanan.org, an online resource for rabbis sponsored by CJF, convened a conference call on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, to offer rabbis both emotional and spiritual support as well as tested strategies for helping congregants and others deal with the recent spate of anti-Semitic attacks.
Over 200 rabbis from throughout North America and Israel have already benefited from this incredible presentation. Rabbi Yaakov Glasser, David Mitzner Dean of the CJF and rabbi of Young Israel of Passaic-Clifton [New Jersey], led off the conversation with words of welcome and comfort.
Rabbi Abraham Cooper, associate dean and director of the Global Social Action Agenda of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, gave advice about ways to ensure that life will go on even in the midst of fear and uncertainty.
Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schacter, senior scholar at the CJF, provided guidance relating to the rabbi鈥檚 leadership role in the context of addressing issues relating to the rise of anti-Semitism. Additionally, he shared relevant insights from the coming week鈥檚 Torah portion that provided rabbis with nuanced material to share with their congregations.
Rabbi Dr. Ari Sytner, director of leadership and community development at CJF and a professor at the , offered counsel on how to provide social, psychological and emotional guidance in responding to the increased fear in our communities.
