By Kimberly Moore, Director Care Café Today, January 17, 2022, we celebrate the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as we engage our communities on this special Day of Service. Although remote, the ’s online MSW program students engage in Care Café initiatives and proactively inquire about ways to get involved in community service initiatives. Our MSW program online students demonstrate their commitment to and enthusiasm for serving their communities.
Rochelle Samson
Responding to the Bronx Fire, Rochelle Samson quickly jumped into gear, reaching out to Care Café to find out what she could to do help. Rochelle quickly commissioned the help of a friend, and commandeered their vehicle, to come to the Bronx from Bayonne, New Jersey, to support the organizing and delivering of donations to families in need. Thank you, Rochelle!
Nichole Mitchell
Nichole Mitchell traveled from Far Rockaway, New York, to support the organizing of donations for Bronx fire victims. The very next day, she jumped into action and coordinated the help of family and friends to collect additional clothing donations. She traveled from Queens to Elizabeth, New Jersey, and coordinated with Care Café for an early morning donation pick up. We thank you, Nichole!
Dominique Faith Worthington
Even before the tragic fire, Dominique Faith Worthington offered her assistance with community service activities. It was 24 degrees this weekend in Bound Brook, New Jersey, when Dominique Faith Worthington met Care Café, with a smile on her face, to provide a generous bag of clothing donations for Bronx fire victims. Dominique, we thank you!
Finally, we take a moment today to reflect on the transformative and inspirational lives of civil rights leaders worldwide being ever mindful about their courage and sacrifices, the unselfish use of self, and persistenc, toward improving the quality of lives for people.
